The Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour (OJGT) started its fall schedule September 5-6 at John Conrad Golf Course with the Talor Gooch John Conrad Fall Classic. Junior golfers battled through another weekend of hot temperatures, putting their games and stamina to the test over 36 holes.
Grady Thompson of Edmond claimed the Boys Division title in impressive fashion, firing matching rounds of 66 to finish at 12-under-par 132. Thompson’s 12-under total gave him a two-stroke victory over Ada’s Drake Kanuch, who finished at 10-under 134 after carding a final-round 64.
The victory marks Thompson’s third OJGT title, adding another win to an already successful junior golf career. Bartlesville’s Jay Wasemiller finished third at 9-under 135, while Rhett Ballou of Elgin and Cohen Museousky of Wichita, Kansas, shared fourth at 8-under 136.
The Girls Division came down to the final hole, with Harlow Gregory of Norman and Dia Singh of Bixby battling throughout the final round for the championship.
Gregory entered the final round five strokes behind Singh after Singh opened the tournament with a 4-under 68, but Gregory’s outstanding final-round 66 put her in position to capture the title. With the championship hanging in the balance on the final hole, Gregory faced a 70-yard shot and was able to get up and down for par, securing a one-stroke victory.
Gregory finished at 5-under 139 for the tournament, while Singh finished at 4-under 140. Freedom’s Gray Gerloff placed third at 2-over 146, followed by Tulsa’s Kate Moore at 6-over 150.
Thank you to John Conrad Golf Course for hosting the OJGT and providing a great venue for another weekend of junior golf. We appreciate your continued support of the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour and our junior golfers!
Next stop on the OJGT schedule is the Bailey Ranch Golf Club in Owasso on September 12-13.
