Stanford III Wins FireLake Junior Open in Playoff; Olszewski Takes Girls Division

The Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour (OJGT) traveled to FireLake Golf Course on September 26-27 for the FireLake Junior Open, where players battled for two days of difficult bermuda greens.

In the Boys Division, Ainslie Stanford III of Edmond and Brayden Sterling of Edmond finished regulation tied at 4-under-par 136. Sterling opened with an even-par 70 before firing a 6-under 66 in the final round, while Stanford carded rounds of 66 and 70 to reach the playoff.

The two Edmond standouts returned to the course for a playoff, where the championship was decided on the first playoff hole. Stanford made par after attempting to drive the green, while Sterling made double bogey after a difficult lie in the heather, giving Stanford the victory and another OJGT title to his resume. Ethan Rawdon of Edmond finished third at 3-under 137, followed by Owen Malone of Goldsby at 2-under 138.

In the Girls Division, Mary Mills Olszewski of Oklahoma City earned the victory after posting back-to-back rounds of 72 for a 4-over-par total of 144. Olivia Black of Ada and Gray Gerloff of Freedom finished tied for second at 5-over 145, just one stroke behind Olszewski. Charlotte Dixon finished fourth at 6-over 146.

The OJGT would like to thank the entire staff at FireLake Golf Course for their hospitality and for providing an excellent venue for this year’s FireLake Junior Open.
