PONCA CITY, OK — The Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour’s Ponca City Summer Classic was shortened to 18 holes after inclement weather and rain affected the tournament schedule on June 17-18 at Ponca City Country Club.
Players battled through difficult weather conditions throughout the tournament week. Brutal hot summer conditions greeted the players on Day #1 as heat indexes reached above 100 degrees. Rain and storms on Day #2 forced officials to shorten the competition.
In the Boys Division, Nathan Brown claimed the championship after firing an outstanding 4-under-par 68. Brown carded matching nines of 34 to finish two shots clear of Alex Yorman, who finished runner-up at 2-under-par 70. Everett Strickland rounded out the top three with a 1-under-par 71.
The Girls Division title went to Kate Moore, who posted an even-par 74 to secure a three-shot victory. Anna Mauck finished second at 77, while Tori Kirberger placed third with an 80.
The OJGT summer schedule continues in two weeks as we head to Oakwood CC in Enid on June 29-30.
