The Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour ventured to Oak Tree Country Club on Tuesday, May 26 for the Oak Tree Junior Classic, where players faced the ultimate test of endurance and consistency with 36 holes completed in a single day. Competitors battled through two full rounds across Oak Tree’s renowned East and West courses, widely regarded as some of the most challenging layouts in the state. Despite the demanding format and long day on the course, the championship produced several outstanding performances from Oklahoma’s top junior golfers.
In the Boys Division, Yukon’s Austen Mueller delivered an exceptional performance to earn the championship title at 7-under-par. Mueller followed an opening-round 69 with a tournament-best 64 in the afternoon round to finish at 133 overall, securing a two-shot victory over Porter Hart of Broken Arrow. This is Austen’s first ever victory on the OJGT.
The Girls Division featured another impressive showing as Edmond’s Bryton Burkhalter claimed medalist honors with a steady and consistent performance. Burkhalter opened with a 69 before adding an even-par 70 in the second round to finish at 2-under-par 139 for the championship. Her ability to maintain composure and consistency over 36 holes proved to be the difference against a strong field of female competitors. This is also Bryton’s first ever victory.
A special thanks to Oak Tree CC for hosting.
