The Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour (OJGT) delivered another exciting week of junior golf at the Page Belcher Junior Championship, where players battled throughout two rounds of competition on Page Belcher’s Stone Creek course.
In the Boys Division, Kael League of Enid captured the championship in impressive fashion, finishing at 7-under-par 135. League followed an opening-round 71 with a tournament-low 64 in the final round. He finished his round of 64 with four birdies in the final five holes to grab the championship by two shots ahead of Oklahoma City’s Christopher Crawford, who finished at 5-under 137. Robert Seals of Lawton placed third at 4-under 138.
The Girls Division provided one of the most dramatic finishes of the OJGT season. Gray Gerloff of Freedom and Kylie Fisher of Tahlequah entered the final hole of regulation with a share of the lead, while Avery Schartz of Wichita, Kansas, was just one shot behind. With the championship hanging in the balance, Fisher made bogey on the 18th, Gerloff made double bogey, and Schartz made par to force a playoff between Schartz and Fisher at 1-over-par 143.
The playoff was a thrilling four-hole battle. Schartz and Fisher traded pars on the 18th three times before playing the 10th hole. Schartz ultimately making par on the fourth playoff hole to claim the championship. Fisher finished runner-up, while Gerloff placed third at 2-over-par 144.
The OJGT would like to thank Page Belcher Golf Course and its staff for hosting the Page Belcher Junior Championship and for their continued support of junior golf in Oklahoma.
