Crawford’s Clutch Finish Highlights OJGT Oakwood Summer Junior Open

The Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour made its annual stop at Oakwood Country Club in Enid on June 29-30, where competitors battled not only one of northwest Oklahoma’s premier junior golf venues but also scorching summer temperatures. With afternoon highs climbing into the upper 90s and heat index values pushing above 100 degrees on both days, the field showed remarkable resilience while competing through demanding conditions.

The Boys Division produced one of the most exciting finishes of the OJGT season as Christopher Crawford held off a talented field to capture the championship with a two-round total of 141 (-1), finishing one stroke ahead of Austen Mueller.

Crawford’s victory came down to the final hole. After finding himself 80 yards from the green on No. 18, he delivered a clutch approach and converted an up-and-down par to preserve his one-shot advantage and secure his first ever OJGT title. His rounds of 70-71 were enough to withstand Mueller’s late charge, as Mueller finished runner-up at 142 (E). Reed Higgins and Owen Mitchel shared third place at 143 (+1), while David Shepherd rounded out the top five at 145 (+3).

In the Girls Division, Gray Gerloff of Freedom claimed her first ever victory on the OJGT by posting rounds of 77-73 for a 36-hole total of 150 (+8). Gerloff’s strong final-round 73 helped her pull away from the field by three strokes over Harlow Gregory, who finished at 153 (+11). Dia Singh and Abbie Justiz tied for third at 155 (+13), while Autumn McMahan completed the top five at 162 (+20).

Oakwood Country Club once again provided a tremendous test for Oklahoma’s top junior golfers while serving as an outstanding host for another successful Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour championship.
